INTENTIONS. . . . I thought we were feeding the birds!!!

Yesterday, our family decided to set up a feeding station so that we could feed the birds. It has been a few years since we had a bird feeder. The feeding station can be seen from our Dining Room and Kitchen windows. Our INTENTION was to attract beautiful Michigan birds.

Then Rocky shows up!!

Is this "Rocky - the flying squirrel" - he tried to jump from the tree to the feeding station!!

He is VERY cute!!!!

and VERY Hungry!

The suet cage is obviously too close to the ground!!!

He is VERY determined!!!!

He didn't come for a little snack or even a small meal......

We even moved it up higher on the pole!!! This just enabled Rocky to climb into the red bird feeder. Pretty soon we had two squirrels at the feeding station.

Although we didn't intend to feed the squirrels, it sure was entertaining!!

Still no BIRDS . . . we may have to make a few changes to our feeding station!!

Life Lesson
Sometimes our INTENTION is to do one thing......
and something else happens!!!

Proverbs 18:24 . . . a friend who sticks closer than a brother...

A few months ago, I introduced you to my friend Andy.

He is the true definition of a friend.

He is loyal, loving, sees past my disabilities and he is full of surprises.

You may recall, he is the one that decorated my school room for my birthday.

Andy is a MARINE. He was called back to duty this spring - he is serving our country - he serves so that I can live in freedom and safety.

One of the very special sweet surprises that Andy gave to me is shown in this picture. A tradition carried on since World War II, a soldier will give his dog tags to his best girl prior to leaving for service.

I am Andy's BEST girl. (p.s. Taylor is willing to share and IS the most understanding girl friend in the world!!)

Andy will be gone for a few months and I miss him every day. I wear these dog tags often. If they are not around my neck, they are safe at home in the container shown in this picture. The bottom of the container says "Bless and Keep All Safe".

(A message to Andy)

Dear Andy: I don't know if you are able to view this BLOG but just in case you do......please know that I love you, I miss you and I am waiting for your safe return. Love, Lindsey

Everyone should have a friend like Colleen......

I would like you to meet
my very special friend.
Her name is Colleen.
Our heart connection is Disney.

A few years ago, while celebrating my birthday at Walt Disney World......we happened to run into Colleen in the resort gift shop. My mom knew Colleen because they worked for the same company and had mutual friends. There is no such thing as a coincidence - what are the chances of seeing someone from our home town while visiting a huge place like Walt Disney World? After that "chance" meeting, we began to chat about our love for Disney. Colleen visits Disney multiple times each year and loves the place more than anyone I know. She always wears something from the mouse....a pin, a coat, a ring or watch...something that shows her favorite vacation spot. Disney makes Colleen happy on the inside.

We have become good friends.....we meet for lunch, exchange e-mails and we even plan our Disney trips together. We had to cancel our last trip with Colleen because my Grandpa Bob became very sick and she went to Florida alone....she extended a lot of grace to our family. Colleen and my Dad are already looking at December flights so that we can spend my 25th birthday with Mickey Mouse.

Colleen is a very giving person. She has a huge heart, especially for people with special needs and those that are sick. She gives to those that need extra love expecting nothing in return. Her laugh is contagious and when she sees me, her face lights up!!! I am blessed to have such a great friend......she understands my love of Disney......Everyone should have a friend like Colleen!
